Casting

Currently we are somewhere around half way through the casting process. Still have many roles to fill, both small and large. Send us an email at resistance@thelocal504.com if you’d like to fill one of these roles, and live in the New Orleans area. In the email please include your age and a photo, or link to where we can see a photo.  Below is a copy of the ad we recently put on Craigslist:

Looking to fill final roles in a local independently produced feature film, looking to fill the following:

* 4 roles, no age, sex, or race preference
* 1 role, 20’s, male, white
* 1 role, 20’s, female, no race preference
* 3 roles, 30’s, male, white
* 1 role, 40+, male, white

Russian speakers needed as well, even if you’d just like to consult.

Respond via email with a recent photo, or link to your photo. No need for professional photographs, just the more recent the better. If you want to add a little about yourself, that would be nice. Also please include a phone number, or the best way to contact you.

This feature is about as independent as it gets. At the moment there is NO PAY involved, so it goes without saying that no experience is necessary. This is for someone looking to get something on their reel, try something new, or really likes the idea for the project.

Please contact us via email with any questions.

About The Logo

The original concept for the logo came while writing the script. Something simple, that represented New Orleans, and also represented resistance. With that in mind, incorporating the Cross of Lorraine with the Fleur de lis was almost the only logical choice.

The Fleur de lis is a part of everyday life in New Orleans, I can think of no other symbol that makes me think of New Orleans more. So in writing a story about a local group this was the obvious base. The Cross of Lorraine also has some New Orleans connection. It was the symbol used by Joan of Ark, The Maid of Orleans, and we have a giant gold statue of her downtown. Eventually the cross became the symbol of the French resistance during WWII. Magnum P.I. also wore a ring with the cross on it.

I discussed the design with a few people and then emailed my friend Scott Leutner in Seattle. I didn’t tell him what it was for or any of the ideas that I already had. I just said that I needed the two symbols combined. He drew up a few sketches and the one we have is obviously the one that spoke to me the most. It was nothing like we thought it would be but it was perfect. So a big thanks to Scott.

There have been some request for t-shirts and those will come in time. We’ve ordered some stickers that will start appearing throughout the New Orleans area. If you live in the area you may be able to find some free ones laying about in various bars, restaurants, and other establishments. If you don’t live in the area we’ll find a way to get them out to you soon.
